Welcome to Women's Exchange! We are an all inclusive community group open to all women. The purpose of the group is to provide mental and social stimulation and allow an arena for sharing concerns and discussing current issues. Our group offers opportunities for discussions of substance, speakers/special programs and outings/field trips. We hope you enjoy being part of the group!
Meeting Times and Dates
Our regular meetings are on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 9:30 to 11:30 am. We meet at Church of the Lakes at the corner of Brunnerdale and Fulton Road in Room 206. In addition to our regular meetings we plan various outings throughout the year. These are planned based on members' interest, local events and opportunities that may arise. The days and time vary. They are always a lot of fun!
Our Special Interest Groups
We have several offshoot groups that have developed because of our members' interests:
- Our Book Club meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 9:30 am in the Church Parlor.
- Our Bunko Card Group meets on the 4th Tuesday during the day wherever the group decides.
- Our Hiking Group is active in the fall with hikers participating in the Summit Metroparks Hiking Spree.
- Our Lunch Bunch Group visits different restaurants on the first Tuesday in October, November, February, March, and April.
- Our Bowling Group meets weekly during the winter months.
If you are interested in starting a new group....
We feel strongly that we are not and do not want to become a philanthropic group. We each have so many projects and volunteer demands and we want to preserve the feeling that WEX is a bit of refuge. We also recognize the potential for hurt feelings if one member’s cause/project is favored over another. Therefore, we wisely chose one beneficiary of our efforts that matches our group; in 2013 the Domestic Violence Project was our annual fall philanthropic effort. We also have a spring philanthropic project that changes each year.
Beyond regular meetings, we communicate primarily through email. Our email address is email@example.com. Our Coordinator oversees all email communication and forwarded emails according to the group’s desired philosophy. We encourage group emails to insure all current members receive all emails. (Our Registrar keeps all email addresses current.) Women’s Exchange membership is not to be used for either profit/non-profit solicitation purposes (other than approved philanthropic efforts).
Our website is new this year and your can find it at www.wexfriends.com. Once your registration and fee are received you will receive a password to access the “Member to Member” section. Calendars, newsletters, roster, registration and activities can be accessed from all your devices.
To cover our costs and be placed on our roster, we ask for an annual registration fee of $25. There are no membership requirements as such. For regular participation in any of our activities (including all subgroups), we do ask that individuals register for membership. Checks should be made payable to Women’s Exchange.
